Sixty years ago, Switzerland was one of the first Western countries to recognize the People's Republic of China on 17 January 1950. Formal diplomatic relations were established on 14 September of the same year. Since then, and especially since the beginning of the reform and opening policy in China, bilateral relations between the two countries have intensified and diversified.

On the occasion of the official visit of the President of the Swiss Confederation, Ms. Doris Leuthard, who will be accompanied by a large delegation of Switzerland's most influential business leaders, the Embassy of Switzerland in China and SwissCham Beijing, in association with the Swiss Business Hub and Cleantech Switzerland, organize three different events for the Chinese and Swiss Business Community.

Sino-Swiss Economic Forum

The Sino-Swiss Economic Forum will be held in the afternoon of the 14th of August and will be composed of an official part, a Switzerland Investment Promotion Seminar, four workshops on Finance, Life Sciences, Machinery and Cleantech, followed by a networking cocktail with the presence of Ms. Leuthard. The forum targets around 200 participants with approximately 60% Chinese and 40% Swiss officials and business leaders.

Gala Dinner

In the evening, a Gala Dinner will be hosted by the President to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Sino-Swiss diplomatic relations.

The Economic Forum and the Gala Dinner will be on invitation only. The President of the Swiss Confederation Ms. Doris Leuthard and her delegation will attend both events and Chinese Ministers as well as other high officials and businessmen will be invited.

Special Edition on Switzerland in the International Business Daily

In addition to these two events, the organizers would like to publish a special edition on Switzerland in the International Business Daily, a well-known Chinese economic newspaper. This edition (between 4 and 8 full pages) should comprise some information about Switzerland (economy, tourism, business environment, etc.), some official interviews as well as advertisements from Swiss companies. This is the opportunity to further promote Sino-Swiss economic relations towards a wide readership and make a long-lasting impression.
