What is the meaning of [CN], [en], etc.?

What is the distinction between Trade and Investment?

Meaning of [CN], [en], etc.

Links and publications names are followed by expressions between square brackets such as:

Swiss Government [CH] [en] [ge] [fr] [it]
OR
Switzerland - Your Business Location in Europe [CH] [en] [de] [fr]

Upper cast font indicates the country / region of origin of the website / publication:

[CH] = Switzerland (*** Why 'CH'?)
[CN] = China
[EU] = Europe
[US] = U.S.A.
[www] = Other

Lower cast font indicates the language of the website / publication:

[en] = English
[cn] = Chinese
[de] = German
[fr] = French
[it] = Italian

*** Why 'CH'?
'CH' stands for Confederatio Helvetica, meaning Swiss Confederation, the old Latin name for Switzerland. 'S' is the official short name for Sweden and 'SW' for Swaziland, so 'CH' goes for Switzerland.

Distinction between trade and investment

Trade can be defined as the sale of goods from one country to another. It is known as import (seen from the country into which the goods are shipped) or export (seen from the country from which the goods are shipped).

Investment can be defined as the incorporation of a company in the foreign country, or as a financial investment in a company incorporated in the foreign country (generally in the form of an equity Joint Venture).
